Automatic site matching #
ENTOMONE can match a record to a site using GPS and the site's saved boundary.
How it works #
A site without a polygon uses its GPS point and radius. When a polygon is saved, it replaces the radius: a record matches only when its GPS point lies inside the boundary or exactly on its edge.
When several sites match #
The site with the centre nearest to the record wins. In a tie, the smaller radius is chosen, then the smaller ID. The same ordering resolves overlapping polygons.
Default radius #
In practice a radius of 1000 m is often used, but the radius should reflect the real extent of the site. Too large a radius can group records too widely.
